What song represents some part of you and why?

I chose the song Believe by Jimi Cravity. I’ve always been the “innocent one” in my friend group. I used to hate this term and spent a couple years trying to get rid of it. After the transition from high school to college I still had the label of being childlike but also gained the position of the mom in my new friend group. Eventually I realized that when I tried to change who I was I was unhappy and noticed my photography was suffering because of it. I realized exactly what the lyrics were saying, that maybe I did need the heart of a child in order to survive and keep myself sane and happy. I constantly find myself taking life as it is and enjoying the small things like how the sky changes colors or running around in the rain and making memories. I completely believe that the reason I am who I am is because of my faith. I can’t make it through life alone no matter how hard I try. My faith is the one thing that has always been there for me, guiding me through both the hard parts of life as well as the good. It has helped me accomplish things that I otherwise would not have achieved. I am currently majoring in photojournalism and minoring in ethics, values, and society. I believe that because “love is free” I have been able to grow closer to my subjects. When somebody invites you into their life the greatest way to repay them is through love and acceptance and by sharing their story truthfully while portraying them as they really are. Overall the beat of the song is very upbeat and energetic. I feel like this reflects my outlook on life. While I get moments where I don’t think I can make it, overall I am happy and passionate about experiencing every moment.
