Between Warped Tour and other local concerts, summer always reminds me of how much I love concert photography and what got me started following my passion.
Back in March I got the amazing opportunity to work with my church to help take pictures for an event called Rock the Plank. Rock the Plank is hosted by Saint Peter Lutheran Church and School and they are planning on doing it every other year. This year Kris Allen, Adam Cappa, Lia K Catallo, Brandon Bible, and Kenny Watson all performed. The proceeds went to New Day Foundation and Chad Tough Foundation, both promoting cancer research.
After the final meet and greet for Kris Allen I was planning on skipping the last set and heading home. This past week has been hard for me and I was in a lot of emotional and physical pain. All that I wanted to do at the moment was to just go home, tone photos, eat, and sleep. As I was leaving the building I heard Adam Cappa playing and decided to go and get a couple photos before I left the campus. Literally as soon as I got to the stage Cappa started talking about something that wasn't related at all to either of the foundations and was 100% related to exactly what I have been going through. It was honestly so exact to my situation it was like I talked to him about it. I ended up staying the rest of the concert to take pictures but also just sit out and take a moment to worship and experience God. I went home and checked his Instagram and there were more things that were even more closely related to what I was going through then the concert. Like holy crap if that isn't a Jesus moment I don't know what is! It was exactly what I needed to hear and I am so amazed and grateful that I stayed.
Rock the Plank was such an amazing experience and exactly what I needed. Thank you to everyone who helped put it on and to everyone who came <3
